Great win for the Superleague team
The Senior team defeated Killester on Saturday night with a thrilling 77 - 74 victory over the reigning National Champions. The victory seemed assured with 3 minutes to go as Star held a 15 point lead but a number of quick fire three balls from Robbie Clarke helped Killester close the gap and kept the crowd on the edge over their seat. Young point guard Ciaran McVeigh came up with a couple of clutch free throws to seal a deserved victory. Coach Darren O'Neill was delighted with the defensive effort from the boys as well as their resolve not to let this one slip. Bobby Kelly (21 pts) and Nick Michaels (19 pts, lots of boards) did an excellent job and were complemented, once again, by an excellent team effort. Stephen Dawson, Michael McKillop and Rob McMurran, along with Ciaran McVeigh and Remus put in another good nights work. The boys head to Dublin on Saturday for a Northern Conference tussle with St.Vincent's.
