It's playoff time! Superleague team win in Dublin

Star (90) -  (79) Hoops

A super team performance on Saturday night in the National Basketball Arena, has helped Star to reach the playoffs for the first time in 4 seasons. It was a straight match up, winner take all, between Belfast Star and Shamrock Hoops - a team that had beaten the lads in both previous encounters this season.

Star were fantastic with Matt Clement leading the way once again with 33 points and 23 rebounds. Jerry Cheves also went to work mixing his game up nicely on offence to finish with 20 points. In a super team performance where many of the players made significant contributions, it was the play of young point guard Ciaran McVeigh (16 points) which sparkled. 'Ciaran picked the biggest game of the season to play his best game ever in the Superleague', commented DF. Rob McMurran and Chris Smye again made a big impact. For Hoops, Taylor Lay finished with 30 points, Ian O'Boyle with 18 points and Scott Kinevane with 15 points.

Star now travel to UCC Demons this weekend in a bid to reach the Final 4 which is in Limerick over the last weekend of March. It's a tough ask going to Cork and Demons will be firm favourites but a repeat performance of Saturday night and who knows?
